The LAWA ConRAC project delivers a centralized rental car facility serving Los Angeles International Airport, consolidating operations previously dispersed across multiple off-site locations. This project is an 8‑gate, $280M expansion to the Midfield Satellite Concourse South at LAX, delivered within an active and secure airfield environment. Pandemic‑related labor and supply chain disruptions prompted evaluation of alternative construction strategies, including traditional in‑situ delivery and an offsite, partially prefabricated approach to reduce on‑site duration and airfield impacts. The 265,000 SF expansion of the North Main Terminal modernized passenger processing and airline operations while enhancing overall circulation and traveler experience. The project included screening areas, TSA and United Airlines facilities, club lounges, and central Massport spaces, along with baggage handling upgrades to support operational changes. Significant infrastructure improvements included full MEP system replacement, façade and entrance enhancements, and upgraded flight information and building systems.
